Mark 11:1-11 Triumphant Entry Monologue

The Messiah’s coming? Seriously? I don’t believe you. Don’t play around. I have chores to do. The Messiah, really? Man…that would be incredible. You know? He could lead us and defeat the Romans. We’d get our land back, our temples, the tax collectors would be gone, we’d get to live by our rules, the laws God set for us!

Man, I can’t believe it. The messiah, he’s here, so close I’ll be able to touch him. He’s here. He’s here! God’s chosen one, the descendent of David, he’s here! He’s here to help. He’s gonna fix things—the corruption, the lies, the scandals, the fraud, it will all cease. Praise God! It’s time for a celebration. Let’s make him feel welcome. Hurry, go get some palm branches. We’ll put on a banquet—the best wine, the fatted calf, our Sabbath best, we’ll go all out. This is the guy! The man we’ve been waiting for!

I can’t believe this is it! We’ve waited so long. My parents and their parents before them, and their parents before them, and before them….14 generations…they’ve suffered, endured, been subjugated and marginalized, and waited, hoped for the Messiah, and now, finally, he’s here.

It’s kind of surreal, you know? I mean, I hate to be a cynic , but God’s been pretty quiet all these years. The suffering, the Romans, the tax collectors, the oppressors. I know I shouldn’t say this, but it’s like God has forgotten us. I’ve even wondered if we actually are “God’s chosen people.” I mean, I don’t feel all that “chosen” when the tax collector comes or they mock our customs. I know that’s bad, but sometimes, I don’t know, doubt just wins out when you don’t see or feel or hear God acting.

And I know we’ve been taught all about the Messiah, the anointed one, but who knew if he’d actually ever come? (Pause) Maybe I should have been more like Job—more faith, less doubt, all that good stuff. But, this is me. (Shrug).

(Pause, surprise) Oh my gosh! Look! There he is! He’s here! Can you believe it?!?! The messiah, he’s here!

Hosanna!

Hosanna to the Son of David!

Hosanna!

(It’s him, can you believe it?!)

Hosanna!

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!

(This is incredible! It’s so amazing! He’s here. He’s really here! The Messiah! He’s here!)

Hosanna!

Hosanna in the highest!

I can’t believe I was here the day the Messiah came! My grandma would have given her left leg to have met him!

This is so incredible!

Praise God! Hosanna! Hosanna! Praise God!

Nice Monologue! But I think your in the wrong book of the bible Mark 11:1-1 is the triumphant entry story. Matthew 1:1-11 is the story of John The Baptist sending messengers to Jesus.
